One Year Old

We can't believe how fast time has gone by! As Caitlynn turns one, we remember the day she was born and the surprise we got with her being a girl. We're still so glad we waited to find out what we were having! With the rough start she had, we're amazed and feel so thankful with how healthy she is. She continues to grow and has reached all her developmental milestones thus far. Each doctor's appointment is nothing but good news and she will no longer need to go to Kennedy Kreiger. We are still so grateful to all the doctors and nurses at John's Hopkins Hospital who helped nurse her back to health.

She weighs 21 lbs 5 ozs and is 29.5 inches long. The doctor is happy with her development and growth and gave her a clean bill of health. We now feed her what we are eating for dinner, though she doesn't always eat what we give her. She is allowed to have eggs, peanut butter, and milk. We are going to try and give her milk in place of her afternoon bottle soon. The doctor says she should be off the bottle by the time she's 3 but we're shooting for before then. We'll see how it goes! She has tried a lot of new foods over the past month including: pineapple, ziti, orange, and meatball (just to name a few!). She's seems to be a big fan of the fruits but not so much of the vegetables. I guess we'll have to work on that!

She has grown so much with learning to crawl down the stairs to taking her first steps! She babbles all the time and is always trying to imitate sounds and noises that we make. She has quite the extensive vocabulary and now says: Hi, Bye, Mama, Dada, Ball, Doggie, Titty (for Kitty), Nana, Pop-pop, and Nunu (for Nonna). She is the sunshine of our lives and we love to sit around and watch her explore the world around her. She is a joy to have and we feel so lucky to have such a great little girl! We can't wait to see what she will learn to do next!
