Caitylnn recently figured out that Mommy and Daddy have "real names". Here she is telling us what they are!

Trip to the Census

Laura took Luke in to visit Ryan in his new office at the Census Bureau. His new co-workers held a surprise shower for him on Monday but since we didn't know about it, we didn't go in that day. They were very generous with a gift from the entire office along with an outfit and a toy train. Everyone enjoyed meeting and holding him. Some of the co-workers from his previous offices also stopped by to meet Luke. It was nice to meet everybody and finally put some names with their faces!

1 Month Old

Luke is one month old already and we can't believe how fast time has flown by! He currently weighs about 11 lbs and is 23 in long. He eats every 2 hours during the day and has recently done a 4 hour stretch at night. Laura is nursing but he has had a few bottles if he has gone to long between feedings during the day. He is not fond of the bottle and usually takes twice as long to finish them. When we has taken one, he drinks about 2.5 ozs.

Luke still spends most of his day napping but we try to make sure he is up part of the day so that he will sleep at night. He recently discovered his hands and will suck on them at times. He continues to be a good baby and really only cries when he is hungry or needs a diaper change.


Caitlynn is still enjoying her baby brother and always wants to see and hold him when she first wakes and gets home from daycare. Her vocabulary continues to grow and she is not afraid to tell us what she wants and she always wants it "now!". She is learning to be gentle with Luke and patient while waiting for things. The house is much busier with two and we are sleeping less but we look forward to the many months and milestones ahead!

Laura took Luke in to Monarch Academy to meet just her co-workers. They were thrilled to finally see him! Everybody wanted a chance to hold him so he was passed around quite a bit! He slept through all of it and only woke up once to eat and have his diaper changed. Laura really enjoyed catching up with everybody and finding out about how her students were doing in her absence. It was a great visit and the students can't wait to get a chance to meet Luke! Here he is with some of the people Laura worked with on a daily basis this school year.

2 week Check-up

We just took Luke to his 2 week check-up. He is now 9 lbs 12 ozs and still 22 in long. The doctor is very happy with his weight gain as most babies are just getting back to their birth rate. He must be eating enough! He got a PKU heel prick and everything is normal. He cried for a bit when they did it but not very long. He's a champ! He nurses about every 2 hours and still spends most of his day sleeping. He is quite content sleeping in someone's arms or in the glider. He has been a great baby and we are just thrilled at how well he is doing thus far!
