Weekend Traveler
We took a trip to north Jersey to visit Aunt Jill and Uncle Mike. We couldn't bring Rocco with us so we dropped him off at Mimi and Popi's and picked up Uncle Rusty. When we got there, late Friday night, Caitlynn was so excited that she didn't want to go back to sleep! On Saturday, we all went into the city to see Central Park. We got to take Caitlynn to the zoo for the first time. She seemed to really enjoy the birds in the indoor Rain forest but wasn't interested in the other animals. We had a great time with great company and look forward to more adventures in NYC!

Caitlynn's Family Party
Caitlynn's last party was celebrated with our family. We were thrilled to have everyone come down. Even though she has had a lot of practice eating cupcakes, she felt the need to share hers with Nonna, Mimi, and Aunt Jill. Caitlynn received a lot of great gifts including adorable clothes, new toys, and a Cozy Car! Everyone had a great time watching Caitlynn play and take some steps. We are so lucky to have family that is willing to drive long distances to help us celebrate her birthday.

One Year Old

We can't believe how fast time has gone by! As Caitlynn turns one, we remember the day she was born and the surprise we got with her being a girl. We're still so glad we waited to find out what we were having! With the rough start she had, we're amazed and feel so thankful with how healthy she is. She continues to grow and has reached all her developmental milestones thus far. Each doctor's appointment is nothing but good news and she will no longer need to go to Kennedy Kreiger. We are still so grateful to all the doctors and nurses at John's Hopkins Hospital who helped nurse her back to health.

She weighs 21 lbs 5 ozs and is 29.5 inches long. The doctor is happy with her development and growth and gave her a clean bill of health. We now feed her what we are eating for dinner, though she doesn't always eat what we give her. She is allowed to have eggs, peanut butter, and milk. We are going to try and give her milk in place of her afternoon bottle soon. The doctor says she should be off the bottle by the time she's 3 but we're shooting for before then. We'll see how it goes! She has tried a lot of new foods over the past month including: pineapple, ziti, orange, and meatball (just to name a few!). She's seems to be a big fan of the fruits but not so much of the vegetables. I guess we'll have to work on that!

She has grown so much with learning to crawl down the stairs to taking her first steps! She babbles all the time and is always trying to imitate sounds and noises that we make. She has quite the extensive vocabulary and now says: Hi, Bye, Mama, Dada, Ball, Doggie, Titty (for Kitty), Nana, Pop-pop, and Nunu (for Nonna). She is the sunshine of our lives and we love to sit around and watch her explore the world around her. She is a joy to have and we feel so lucky to have such a great little girl! We can't wait to see what she will learn to do next!

Mom's Group Party
We hosted the Mom's Group 1st Birthday party for all of the babies. Everyone brought yummy food, desserts, and drinks. Caitlynn had a great time playing with all of her little friends. We wanted all the babies to enjoy cupcakes but knew it would be messy. So we put a table cloth on the floor, the babies were striped down to their diapers and we let them enjoy! It was s fun to watch them eat away and some even "stole" other babies icing! Everyone brought a gender neutral gift and we decided to let the babies "choose" the gift that they wanted. Some of the babies were great at picking out and opening their gift. Others were not as into it,... which was Caitlynn! All in all, we had a great time and Caitlynn was partied out after her busy weekend of celebrating!

Caitlynn's Friend Party
We celebrated Caitlynn's first birthday with some of her favorite friends! Caitlynn had a great time eating her first cupcake,... as did her other buddies. She received a lot of fun new toys, books, and clothes. She didn't quite open up her gifts but she sure did love pulling out the tissue paper (and then trying to eat it!). Her and her buddies enjoyed "looking at" all of her birthday cards. We are so lucky to have such gracious, giving friends. Thanks to everyone who came to help us celebrate our snowflakes big day!

Favorite word!
Caitlynn has been saying quite a few words now, besides "dada" and "mama". Her favorite food seems to be a banana so she picked up on that word quickly. Here is a video of her saying "nana".
On the Move!
Caitlynn took her first steps today at daycare. Leanne was able to get it on video through a cell phone but the quality wasn't good enough to put on her blog. We still go to see her first steps, we love her! Luckily, Caitlynn did it again tonight at home. Here is the video of her taking some steps. She's not happy with me because I took the phone from her to motivate her to walk! She'll be cruising around soon!
