Luke's 1st Bath

Mimi and Laura gave Luke his first bath at home today. He was NOT a happy camper and peed on Laura before he even made it in the tub! Once in there, he cried the entire time. We think it is because he was cold but who knows! Maybe he's just not a fan of the tub.

Bringing Home Baby!

Luke was able to come home right away with Laura on Friday. We were beyond excited to finally be able to have a newborn at home! Luke's first few days at home were filled with many visitors. Mimi and Popi stayed the entire weekend with us and helped us get settled in as a family of four. Uncle Rusty came down Friday and Saturday and had a great time meeting his nephew (whose middle name we choose after him). Pop-pop, Nonna, and Uncle Richie came down on Saturday and stayed for the day. Uncle Richie loved meeting his nephew for the first time and bought Luke his first Phillies t-shirt. Caitlynn had a great time playing with her Uncles and Grandparents and enjoyed all the extra attention. She loves "holding" her new baby brother and wants to give him a kiss every chance she gets! We just need to work on her being "gentle" with Luke. We are so thankful for all the extra support, help, and meals we were given during the weekend and can't wait for Luke to meet the rest of his family soon!

It's a boy!

We welcome with love Luke Russell on February 23rd at 6:25pm. He weighs 9 lbs 6 ozs and is 22 inches long. Laura ended up having to be induced Tuesday morning at 10:00am and was a trooper the entire time. She pushed for a hour and was able to deliver him without needing a c-section. Though no one, not even the doctors, guessed he was going to be as big as he was! Laura and Luke are both doing great and will be going home together on Friday. We are thankful for all the well wishes, phone calls, and emails and can't wait to see how big our little "line backer" ends up being through the years!

Week 40

Laura is officially full term and baby Bean still has not made his/her grand entrance. At Laura's doctor appointment, she was dilated 1-2 cm and 50% effaced. The doctor said babies usually follow the same delivery time line as the first baby so it isn't a huge surprise baby Bean's still incubating considering Caitlynn was 4 days late. Right now, Laura is on the waiting list to be induced on Wednesday, February 23rd. If she isn't called, she is scheduled for Thursday, February 24th. Since she is not a "high priority", her induction date can be bumped back depending on how "full" the maternity ward is that morning. We will see if we make it to the induction date or if baby Bean will come before then! Keep thinking baby for us!
